The Allen County Sheriff's Department investigated a case of possible underage photographs being sent by text. One adult was arrested as well as a juvenile.

Kim Leckrone WF 31 of Savonburg KS was arrested for Domestic Battery and Disorderly Conduct after deputies responded to a 911 hang up from her residence.

Johny L. Burnett Jr. 19 of Westphalia KS was arrested for Driving Under the Influence early Sunday morning. He had been stopped for speeding and driving on the wrong side of the road.

A 46 year old Utah woman staying at the Crossroads "motel" in Iola was taken into protective custody by deputies after making suicidal statements.

An investigaton of fraud was opened by the Allen County Sheriff's Department. A suspect was identified and the investigation is continuing.

On 1/09/2012 officer responded to a call of a man with a handgun causing a disturbance at Westside Bait shop. Officers arrived and took three subjects into custody. A search of the vehicle the three were in found several loaded handguns, illegal narcotics and one stolen handgun.

Jessica Heck 29 of Moran was arrested and charged with domestic battery and disorderly conduct.

On the 1st of January, Deputies investigated an underage party located west of Iola. Three subjects were arrested in the investigation: Dalton Weatherbie, Cassidy Weatherbie, and Ryan Thompson. One juvenile was charged also.

Bernard McGowan, 63, Basehor KS was cited for 83mph in a posted 65mph zone.


William Ash, 55, Wichita struck a deer that entered the roadway on US Highway 54 two miles west of Iola. No injuries were reported at the time of the crash.

 

12/10/2011

On Saturday 12/10/2011 Allen County Deputies responded to a two vehicle crash at the intersection of West St. and Chestnut St. in Iola. After intense investigation it was found that James Cole, 45, Humboldt was driving a 1998 GMC Jimmy and Steven Stanley, 54, Iola was driving a 2009 Ford Ranger. Stanley was traveling westbound on West St. when Cole failed to yield/stop at a stop sign at the intersection. Cole entered the intersection in front of Stanley causing Stanley to strike Cole’s GMC in the left rear quarter panel. Cole was cited for failure to yield to oncoming traffic. No injuries were reported at the time of the crash.


 

 

During the early afternoon hours, someone put $35.00 worth of fuel into their vehicle at Pump-N-Pete’s in Moran. The unknown person then drove off without paying for the fuel. The investigation for this incident is still ongoing.


Joab Barr, 22, Humboldt was cited for 70mph in a 55mph zone.


Chelsea Reno, 22, Piqua was cited for 64mph in a 55mph zone.


On November 9, 2011, Allen County Communications received a report of a battery that occurred in the area of 1400 St. and West Virginia Rd. in Allen County. The victim was named as Kenneth T. Vencel, 19, Kincaid. Named suspects are Jordon Crossfield, 18, Yates Center, Cory Culler, 21, Iola, Cody Mefford, 22, Iola and Ashley Bratsch, 18, Gas. Charges are being pursued through the Allen County Attorney's Office.

Kirk Weatherman, 55, Iola, was arrested one mile east of Iola and charged with interference with official law enforcement duties on Thursday evening. The investigation for this incident is still ongoing.

During the early morning hours on Tuesday (12/6/11), Mark Harms, 61, Chanute struck a deer  that was in the roadway ½ mile north of Petrolia.  No injuries were reported during the crash.


Charles Smith, 39, Cantonment FL was cited for 41mph in a posted 30mph zone.

During the early morning hours on Tuesday (12/06/2011) Mark E. Harms, 61, Chanute struck a deer that entered the roadway 1/2 miles north of Petrolia on 800 St. Harms 2009 GMC SUV suffered minor damage. No injuries were reported at the time of the crash.



12/5/2011 UPDATE----UPDATE----UPDATE

Updated information regarding the incident with Garrett G. Cleaver.

On Monday afternoon at approximately 4:00pm, Garrett G. Cleaver, 26, of rural Colony was taken into custody. After following numerous leads to attempt to locate Cleaver, the US Marshals located and apprehended Cleaver without incident in Springfield Missouri. Cleaver is being held awaiting judgment regarding criminal cases in Missouri. Cleaver will then be transported to Kansas where he is wanted on three felony warrants. Two warrants being out of Allen County, KS and one out of Neosho County, KS. Names of the people who assisted Cleaver in his crime spree have not been released at this time. The investigation is still ongoing for this case.

On Monday afternoon, Garrett G. Cleaver, 26, of rural Colony assaulted a Humboldt Police Officer and an Allen County Deputy by pointing what was described to be a high powered rifle at them. Cleaver got into a vehicle owned by Melissa Elder, 31, of Humboldt and led Allen County Deputies and Humboldt Police Officers on a 10 mile pursuit that ended at the intersection of 2000 St and Iowa Rd where Cleaver exited his vehicle and ran on foot. Officers maintained a perimeter due to the fact that Cleaver still had the rifle in his possession. Members from the Allen County Sheriff’s Department with the assistance of Humboldt Police Department, Iola Police Department, Fredonia Police Department, and the Kansas Highway Patrol searched the area including the vehicle Cleaver was driving. Highway Patrol air assistance was denied due to possible icy conditions. Cleaver was not found at the scene during the search, after law enforcement was forced to wait on additional police personnel and K-9 assistance for safety. Cleaver’s description is listed in the “Crime Stoppers” section on the lower left hand corner of the home page.
